Cupra unveil at Geneva Terramar, a pre-production concept of the first independent model
The second model of Seat's Cupra brand is due to be revealed at the next Geneva Motor Show.
Although will be presented in concept form recalling the 20v20 Seat concept presented at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, and few other details was unveiled, Seat confirmed that the crossover will be comparable in size with the model Leon. According to the company, this will be a pretty sporty and coupe-like crossover and should probably occupy a niche between Ateca and Tarraco.
The vehicle, which could be named after a former Spanish racing track, Autódromo de Sitges-Terramar, will be the first Cupra not to be based on an existing model although such a Seat-badged equivalent might be released after an interval.
Under the hood, the new SUV will have an engine capable of developing more than 300 horsepower, paired with an automatic transmission with dual clutch and all-wheel drive.
The installation of an electric motor for the hybrid version is also not excluded.
Production of the 'erramar should commence at year end, with the sales roll-out across Europe beginning in early 2020.
