BMW Brilliance opens battery factory in Shenyang
The BMW Group, in partnership with the consolidated joint venture with Brilliance (the contract was extended until 2028), inaugurated in Shenyang a new plant for the production of batteries for electrified vehicles.
The factory will support the nearby Dadong factory (always managed by BMW Brilliance) where the 5-Series hybrid plug-in will be assembled for the Chinese market.
The plant, dubbed as "High-Voltage Battery Center", will enable the Bavarian carmaker to take a further step in its range electrification strategy.
According to the Group's responsible for production, Oliver Zippe, by 2025, the electrified models of BMW and MINI brands will affect between 15% to 25% of the Monaco giant's total sales.
BMW already produces batteries at the Dingolfing and Spartanburg factories.
