Chancellor Merkel visits Volkswagen stand at the IAA
Yesterday the German Chancellor Angela Merkel officially inaugurated the opening to the public of the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Merkel reiterated the strategic future importance of developing less polluting cars, asking the local auto industry to invest heavily in the industry without ignoring the development of combustion engines.
The Chancellor then stopped at some stands, including Volkswagen where she was welcomed by the Group's CEO, Matthias Müller, and the brand manager, Herbert Diess.
The two managers explained to Merkel the new strategy of the Wolfsburg giant, which foresees for the next five years investments of 3.5 billion euros for the optimization of conventional engines and 6 billion euros for future green mobility.
