Ford and Vodafone for the connected driving between vehicles
Ford and Vodafone are jointly developing a new technology based on the connection between vehicles that can alert drivers in the event of an accident and provide guidance on where to position themselves to facilitate the passage of oncoming rescue vehicles.
The technology is designed to help drivers create the so-called emergency corridor through which firefighters, ambulances and police vehicles can reach the places where they can provide relief more quickly.
The new technology also integrates the Emergency Vehicle Warning, which is able to send an alert directly from the ambulance, from the firefighters vehicle or from the police car to the nearby cars, in order to transmit the exact position from which it comes the siren and from which distance.
The application is one of the ongoing tests in the context of KoMoD (Kooperative Mobilität im digitalen Testfeld Düsseldorf), a 15 million euro project that deals with the development of innovative and connected solutions for the mobility of tomorrow.
