Hyundai to add a third line to increase production in India
Hyundai plans to increase the production at its Chennai's Indian plant by another 50,000 units a year.
The Korean company has indeed announced that it will soon introduce a third assembly shift at the plant where a new small model will be built for the Indian market, a direct competitor of the Maruti Suzuki Alto.
Hyundai operates in India through two plants, both in Chennai, whose total potential capacity will grow to 763 thousand units by 2019.
The level of exports will also increase, with a focus on emerging markets such as the Philippines, Vietnam and Algeria.
