By 2022 a zero-emission variant is planned for the entire Mercedes-Benz portfolio. The manufacturer will introduce several electrified models in each segment, from the small smart to large SUVs.

There are more than 130 electrified options in the program, from the 48 V EQ Boost models to a wide range of pure electric-powered EQ Power plug-in hybrid vehicles.

The electric offensive in the passenger car sector bears the name of the new EQ technology and product brand. The first new third-generation plug-in hybrid models with the EQ Power brand are already being delivered to the first customers.

To start, Mercedes-Benz is targeting on C-Class, E-Class and S-Class. In hybrid models, the 13.5 kWh battery is mated with a petrol engine or, for the first time, with a diesel powertrain.

Furthermore, for the first time ever, the hybrid-plug technology is combined with the fuel cell aboard the new Mercedes-Benz GLC F-CELL, which will soon be launched for mass production.

The SUV will be able to offer a combined hydrogen consumption of 0.34 Kg/100 km, zero CO2 emissions and a weighted current consumption of 13.7 kWh per 100 kilometers.
