Mexican President visits Wolfsburg
On the occasion of his official trip to Germany, Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto visited the headquarters of Wolfsburg to witness the close ties that the Volkswagen Group has for decades with the Central American country.
The President was welcomed by the new CEO of the German giant, Herbert Diess, who recently took over from Matthias Müller.
The history between Volkswagen and Mexico has a long tradition of over 50 years.
The first model to be produced at the Puebla plant was the Beetle in 1967, followed over the years by Jetta, Beetle Cabrio, Golf, Golf Variant and Tiguan.
In addition to Puebla, the Volkswagen Group also manages in Mexico the Silao engine plant and the new Audi plant in San José Chiapa.
