New record for BMW production in Spartanburg: 411.171 units
The American plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, confirms once again as the most competitive in the world for the BMW Group.
Last year, the assembly shifts of the plant were in fact able to produce 411,171 units (second time over the threshold of 400,000 units), about 70% of them (287,700) were exported.
Spartanburg is the global cradle of the BMW X family models and in details have been assembled 151,298 units of the X3, 56,404 for the X4, 165,377 of the X5 and 38,092 for the X6.
"The 2016 - said Knudt Flor, president and CEO of BMW Manufacturing - was a very successful year for Plant Spartanburg to confirm how our X models continue to be extremely popular worldwide".
And in the future the US plant of the Bavarian carmaker promises additional records thanks to the planned investments that will help to expand the dedicated line to X5 and X6 models and especially to produce also the fifth model of the family, the X7.
