Saic-GM-Wuling joint venture to start production in Indonesia
The well-established Saic-GM-Wuling joint venture, specialized in light commercial vehicles, has officially started manufacturing in Indonesia.
Thanks to a 700 million dollars investment, the company inaugurated the Cikarang plant, the first outside of China's borders, with an annual capacity of about 120,000 units.
The first result of the new operation in Indonesia will be the Confero S minivan, which will be marketed in the Asian country from the third quarter through the Wuling dealers.
In the joint venture, Saic holds 50.1%, General Motors China 44%, and Guangxi Automobile Group 5.9%.
