The Siemens eMobility Calculator for new urban mobility
Siemens is launching the eMobility calculator, a tool that will estimate the infrastructure requirements and potential impacts of electric transportation in cities over the next 30 years.
eMobility will give cities a clear map of what type of infrastructure improvements will be required in order to electrify private cars, public buses, including estimates on the number of electric vehicles chargers needed and on parking and land use.
For example, the company has calculated that a city like Los Angeles would need to install up to 100 electric vehicle (EV) chargers per week, starting now and continuing through 2050, to complete the transition to an all-electric urban mobility.
In this way it could recover 220,000 square meters of land, which equates to enough space for over 500,000 new homes.
