Visteon inaugurates new tech centre in Germany
Visteon has inaugurated a new 6,500 sq-m facility in Karlsruhe, Germany, its lead technology hub for Europe.
This technology center will host advanced development of vehicle cockpit electronics, and will lead the development of the Visteon DriveCore autonomous driving platform.
The new facility will house 500 employees from product development, technology, engineering and customer teams, and builds on Visteon’s existing activities in the Karlsruhe area.
These include strong relationships with regional technical institutions and universities, such as the ongoing KIP project with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, which is creating a database for ‘training’ AI systems in vehicles and the testing of autonomous driving functions at the test area operated by the Karlsruhe Traffic Association.
Besides autonomous driving technologies, Visteon is currently developing digital instrument clusters, information displays and cockpit domain controllers for customers including Daimler, BMW, Porsche and the Volkswagen Group.
