Volvo and Baidu join forces to develop and manufacture autonomous driving cars
Volvo has reached an agreement with Baidu, the leading Chinese internet search provider, to jointly develop electric and fully autonomous drive-compatible cars with the aim of mass producing them for China.
The partnership will allow both companies to develop and sell these vehicles to potential Chinese customers, underlining Volvo's aspirations to be the world's leading mobility provider.
Volvo and Baidu will combine resources to prepare for mass production, to which the Chinese company will contribute with its autonomous Apollo driving platform.
While Volvo will provide the fundamental support of its experience in the automotive world and of its advanced technologies.
